When your read health news, similar themes start appearing. This article by Dr. Mercola sums up nicely ways to start bettering your health. He lists 10 items to avoid such as:
- Vegetable oils (have omega-6 fats; use coconut or olive oil with omega-3 instead)
- Electro Magnetic Frequency (EMF) radiation (keep cellphones away from your body)
- Artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose (use natural sugar but strive to reduce overall)
- Plastic containers/bottles (leach chemicals into liquids)
- Nonstick cookware (many adverse health effects including cancer; ceramic or stainless steel better)
- Harsh cleaning products (natural items like vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide work just as well)
- Personal care products (have a variety of chemicals including parabens, phthalates, dyes)
While not in the article, what about good products? Here are a few to consider for improved health.
- White and green tea
- Prebiotics and probiotics
- Vitamins/Minerals (C, D, magnesium, zinc, etc.)
- Sunshine (15-30 minutes without sunscreen to make vitamin D – boosts immunity)
- Vegetables, especially broccoli and cauliflower (anti-cancer, best if organic or homegrown)
